Viral Validation Scientist

You are our technical expert in viruses. As a viral validation scientist you are responsible for developing, optimizing, and validating viral workflows within a GMP environment, specifically for NGS and digital PCR. You support the operational colleagues with the execution of your projects in the lab and maintain project timelines. Lastly, you work on custom customer reports. In this role, you will be part of an ambitious team of scientists with various technical backgrounds. You work closely together with the other scientists as well as the operational team.

You support the operational colleagues with the execution of your projects in the lab and maintain project timelines. Lastly, you work on custom customer reports. In this role, you will be part of an ambitious team of scientists with various technical backgrounds. You work closely together with the other scientists as well as the operational team.

To ensure a good match, we kindly ask that you only apply if you meet the following essential criteria:

• You have completed a MSc degree in microbiology or related subject, and a PhD in virology;
• You have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in academia or industry;
• You have experience in culturing and isolation/extraction of DNA and RNA viruses;
• You have experience in assay development for qPCR and preferably digital PCR, including primer/probe design and analysis – specifically for virus-related assays;
• You have experience in writing work instructions and reporting/ documentation (English language);
• You have experience with automation;
• You come with demonstrated project management experience;
• You have built a good network in the scientific community;
• You are based within 35 km from our Leiden office.
• It would be ideal, if you also have experience with ISO17025, GMP, ICH guidelines and/or NGS (Illumina/ONT).
