Wetlab internships at 1NA combine scientific problem-solving with practical research and development for single-molecule experiments and data analysis. Much of this work is built around DNA Curtains and fluorescence microscopy data, with applications ranging from fundamental academic research to studying DNA-protein interactions relevant to drug discovery. Projects are mainly focused around acquiring DNA-protein interactions through microscopy experiments. In support of this objective other projects include microfluidics, 3D printing and data analysis. Interns work closely with our scientific and software teams to translate research challenges into robust, efficient experiments on the Nanoloom microfluidic flow cell, with attention to both scientific accuracy and practical company needs. Depending on interests and ongoing priorities, there is plenty of room to work independently, explore new approaches and contribute to different projects across the company.
About Your Tasks and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities / Tasks:
Perform wetlab experiments on a TIRF microscope for the Nanoloom microfluidic chip.
Documentation and communication to different stakeholders.
Gain an overview of the biological question in order to guide experimental workflow.
About Your Skills and Experience
Required Skills / Background:
Motivation to work in a start-up environment and to perform wetlab experiments; ability to work carefully and independently, open-minded mindset.
Enrolled in a relevant Master’s programme (e.g. Nanobiology, Life Science and Technology, or related field) with an interest in quantitative approaches to biological problems.
