Molecular Biology
About Your Next Job
At LUMC, as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Chromatin Biology, you contribute to bridging fundamental research with clinical applications. You will focus on investigating the genetic aspects of BAFopathies within a ZonMw-funded project. Your work will involve advanced techniques such as CRISPR and long-read sequencing. You will be part of an international team of dedicated researchers, working together to push the scientific boundaries in this field.
About Your Next Colleagues
You will join the Department of Human Genetics, led by Prof. Dr. Ir. Silvère van der Maarel, a department with 22 research groups focused on genetic and epigenetic facets of monogenic, multifactorial, and acquired diseases and their clinical translation. The department comprises approximately 220 international staff, including professors, students, research analysts, and researchers in training. You will be based in the Developmental Epigenomics research group led by Dr. Lucia Daxinger, embedded in the ‘Molecular Technology and Informatics for Personalised Medicine and Health’ research line, with a distinct focus on understanding the molecular basis of chromatin anomalies using mammalian cellular models, molecular biology techniques, proteomics, and genome-wide approaches such as single-cell and long-read sequencing.
About Your Tasks and Responsibilities
You are an enthusiastic and driven researcher with a completed (or nearly completed) PhD in molecular biology or a related field. You know how to apply your knowledge effectively within an ambitious, international team, where collaboration, autonomy, and clear communication are essential. You thrive in a dynamic research environment and enjoy contributing to collective success.
About Your Skills and Experience
At least one peer-reviewed publication as first author.Experience in epigenetics and/or chromatin biology alongside analysis of -omics data (e.g. RNA‑seq, WGBS, ChIP‑seq, ATAC‑seq).Proficiency in bioinformatics languages such as R or Python.Excellent practical skills in molecular biology, including cell culture, PCR, and western blotting.Experience in iPSC culture and differentiation, and preferably CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing.
About Your Benefits
Driven by health; that's our mission. This applies not only to our patients but also to our employees. We strive to provide a safe, inclusive and equitable work environment, with a focus on talent development and connected leadership. In order to be able to continue to learn and develop, we offer internal and external training.
